چکیده
DESCRIPTION A 44-year-old man, right hand dominant, presented to the emergency department with a chief complaint of left hand pain status post crush injury to left hand between heavy metal objects at the workplace. The patient was found to have a left long finger distal tip amputation with concomitant transverse distal phalangeal fracture and intact sterile and germinal matrix.

Preservation of the Sterile Matrix, Hyponychium, and Fingertip Pad in Fingertip Reconstruction With Composite Fingertip and Nail Bed Graft and Volar V-Y Advancement Flap
Background: The goals of fingertip reconstruction are to achieve adequate soft-tissue coverage and a functional nail plate and to maintain sensation, proprioception, and cosmesis. Objective: We present a composite tissue graft and volar V-Y advancement flap for reconstruction of a traumatic amputation of a fingertip, which provided optimal preservation of the hyponychium and the volar pad for p...
متن کاملTreatment of Fingertip Amputation in Adults by Palmar Pocketing of the Amputated Part
BACKGROUND First suggested by Brent in 1979, the pocket principle is an alternative method for patients for whom a microsurgical replantation is not feasible. We report the successful results of a modified palmar pocket method in adults. METHODS Between 2004 and 2008, we treated 10 patients by nonmicrosurgical replantation using palmar pocketing. All patients were adults who sustained a compl...
متن کاملComposite Grafting of a Distal Thumb Amputation: A Case Report and Review of Literature
OBJECTIVE We report a case in which an avulsion-amputation of the thumb proximal to the lunula was repaired by reattaching the amputated segment as a composite graft. The graft demonstrated complete survival with only a minimal sacrifice in length. METHODS A 23-year-old man presented 4 hours after an avulsion injury of the thumb with associated distal and proximal phalanx fractures. The amput...
متن کاملInnervated full thickness grafts in distal finger amputations
Innervated full thickness graft will be presented as an option to reconstruct a fingertip defect which might result in better sensibility than standard reconstruction using a full thickness graft without innervation. Also, anastomosing the nerve stumps can decrease the chance of developing neuroma.
متن کامل[Fingertip injuries in children].
Traumatisms of distal extremities are frequent in children. They can associate fingertip skin, bone and nail complex injuries. Their severity level is very variable, from simple subungual bruise to distal amputation. Initial care needs careful repair of injured structures. Secondary treatment of sequelae is much more difficult.
